Their idea for the perfect shoe came about on their way down from the peak plateau of El Capitán to Yosemite Valley. As the sun set in the distant horizon, Stefan Glowacz and his climbing partner were dragging them- selves and their aching feet down- wards, over the rocks. Out of exhaustion, pain, and a hint of melancholy, evolved the first draft for the "Climbers for Climbers" shoe – allowing filigreed climbing technique and perfect hold on smallest steps, with great comfort even on multi pitch routes. Along with their first brainstorming in shoe design, another dream was born - a dream of their own company for developing and

producing high quality climbing equipment. Red Chili is the name of their dream come true. Already before Stefan Glowacz and Uwe Hofstädter used their business talents for them- selves, they helped distribute alpine products for an internationally market leading Spanish company throughout Germany. But they could by no way realize their own visions of quality products, designed to their level of satisfaction and mainly SG, being an asked for product mentor in the clim- bing world, never was content. It took one creative night, lots of red vine and lots of Red Hot Chili Peppers music and the vague thoughts of El Cap were put down on paper and became facts.
